    Hartnell College, Chevron Energy Solutions Break Ground on Monterey County's Solar Energy Project

    April 17, 2013 - Hartnell College and Chevron Energy Solutions announced today they have broken ground on a solar energy project that is expected to save the community college more than $11 million. The project will include over half a megawatt of solar PV generating capacity, and is expected to be completed and operational in July 2013. Combining the generation of renewable electricity from solar and improvements in energy efficiency, the project is expected to reduce Hartnell's electricity use at its Alisal Campus by more than 90 percent.

    Conergy Completes 725kW Solar Solution for T&P Farms

    April 16, 2013 – Conergy Projects Group has completed construction of a 725kW photovoltaic system for T&P Farms out of Arbuckle, California. The system is powering T&P Farms' almond hulling and shelling operations. The system is supplying T&P with 95% of the energy they use and allows T&P to offset thousands in high utility costs.

    LDK Solar Signs New Module Supply Contract

    April 17, 2013 - LDK Solar Co., Ltd. today announced that it has signed a module supply contract with EA Solar Nakornsawan Co., Ltd. Under the terms of the agreement, LDK Solar will provide 63 megawatts (MW) of PV modules with weekly shipments of approximately 6.3MW expected to commence in August 2013.

    LDK Solar Provides Update on the Sale of LDK Hefei

    April 16, 2013 - LDK Solar Co., Ltd. today announced Anhui LDK New Energy Co., Ltd. signed an agreement to sell and transfer all its equity interest in its wholly owned subsidiary, LDK Solar High-Tech (Hefei) Co., Ltd., located in Hefei City of Anhui Province in China, to an affiliate of the Hefei City government, Hefei High Tech Industrial Development Social Service Corporation, for approximately RMB 120 million. Based on the Company's book value, LDK Solar expects to realize a net loss in the range of USD 80 million to USD 90 million for this transaction.

    First Solar Sets CdTe Module Efficiency World Record

    April 9, 2013 - First Solar, Inc. today announced it set a new world record for cadmium-telluride (CdTe) photovoltaic (PV) module conversion efficiency, achieving a record 16.1 percent total area module efficiency in tests confirmed by the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). The new record is a substantial increase over the prior record of 14.4 percent efficiency, which the Company set in January 2012. Separately, First Solar also set a record for CdTe open circuit voltage (VOC), a critical parameter for PV performance, reaching 903.2 millivolts (mV) in NREL-certified testing. This new record marks the first substantial increase in CdTe VOC in over a decade of international R&D. The new records come just six weeks after First Solar announced a new world record for CdTe solar cell efficiency of 18.7 percent.
