SolarCity to Finance Approximately $400 Million in Residential Solar Projects
SolarCity today announced that it has created a new investment program with Bank of America Merrill Lynch to finance an estimated $400 million in solar power projects in 2014 and 2015. The new financing makes it possible for thousands of American homeowners to install solar panels with no upfront cost and pay less for solar electricity than they currently pay for utility power. The new residential program follows BofA Merrill’s prior commitment to finance more than $200 million in commercial solar power projects with SolarCity, and continues the two companies’ long-term partnership to deploy clean energy. -

Acciona Energía Commissions 74MW PV Project in South Africa
ACCIONA Energía has put the Sishen solar photovoltaic plant into service. With its 216GWh of electricity generation per year, it will have the highest level of production of all the plants that are operational in Africa. ACCIONA holds a majority stake in the plant. -

GE Energy and Pacifico Energy to Construct 42MW Solar Project in Japan
GE unit GE Energy Financial Services is continuing its expansion into the Japanese renewable energy power market, completing its second solar project financing transaction with Pacifico Energy. GE Energy Financial Services invested alongside Virginia Solar Group in Mimasaka Musashi, a 42MW (DC) photovoltaic solar power project under construction in the prefecture of Okayama. Financing for the project was completed on a non–recourse project finance basis and was supported by a JPY ¥13 billion credit facility from the Bank of Tokyo–Mitsubishi UFJ and Chugoku Bank. Additional financial details were not disclosed. -

EDF Renewable Services Adds 134MW of Solar to its Canadian O&M Portfolio
EDF Renewable Services signed contracts for 454MW of wind and 134MW of solar in 2014 adding to the company's Canadian portfolio. These additions represent a 52% increase in contracted projects in the Canadian market through 27 individual projects in Quebec and Ontario. -

First Solar Enters Residential Market with Investment in Clean Energy Collective
First Solar, Inc. and Clean Energy Collective (CEC) today announced that they have formed a strategic partnership to develop and market community solar offerings to residential customers and businesses directly on behalf of client utilities. Through the agreement, the two companies will jointly pursue opportunities in the community solar market to offer an affordable and convenient alternative to rooftop generation. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. -

ITOCHU Announces to Construct 37MW Solar Power Plant in Japan
ITOCHU Corporation announced today that it plans to construct a mega solar power plant on land in Okayama city, Okayama prefecture, and that it will commence the power generation business through an operating company established jointly with Fuyo General Lease Co., Ltd. and Ene One Solar Co., Ltd. The operating company concluded a loan agreement pertaining to the project with a group of banks represented by Mizuho Bank, Ltd. -

Hitachi Zosen and Solar Frontier Start Construction of 15MW PV Project in Japan
Takara Leben, Hitachi Zosen and Solar Frontier announced today that construction has started on a 15MW solar power plant located on a former golf course in Nakagawa, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. The power generated by the plant will be sold to the grid. Takara Leben owns the former golf course, Hitachi Zosen is providing EPC services for the project, and Solar Frontier supplied its CIS thin-film modules, which provide high power output in real operating conditions. -

JinkoSolar’s South African Production Facility is in line with Industry Standards
JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd. today announced that its South African production facility is in line with industry standards in an independent technical review conducted by OST Energy. The results of the modules tested suggest that the Company's manufacturing facility in South Africa is capable of producing products within higher standards.
