LDK Solar Files in Cayman Islands to Resolve Offshore Liquidity
Feb. 24, 2014 - LDK Solar announces that LDK Solar made a filing on February 21, 2014 with the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands for the appointment of joint provisional liquidators in connection with its plans to resolve its offshore liquidity issues. LDK Solar has made considerable progress in its discussions with its key offshore creditors in line with the terms announced in its press release of December 27, 2013. LDK Solar intends to continue such discussions over the next few days and anticipates a favorable conclusion to those discussions. The filing and the proposed appointment do not affect any of the LDK Solar-affiliated entities operating in the People's Republic of China and LDK Solar has no intention of initiating any additional debt restructuring proceedings in that jurisdiction. LDK Solar's bank group for its mainland China operations has expressed unanimous support for LDK Solar's continued discussions with its offshore creditors with a view to resolving its offshore liquidity issues. -

Hanwha SolarOne Receives Product Carbon Footprint Certification
Feb. 21, 2014 - Hanwha SolarOne is among the first PV manufacturers to have its solar modules certified with the new international standard for carbon footprint assessment, ISO 14067. The certificates were issued by German safety standard authority TÜV Rheinland in January 2014. -

Juwi to Build New Solar Power Station in Northeast El Paso, Texas
Feb. 19, 2014 - El Paso Electric Company (EPE) and Newman Solar LLC, owned by Colorado-based juwi solar Inc. (JSI) have signed an agreement to build a 10 megawatt (MW) solar energy facility in Northeast El Paso, Texas next to EPE's Newman Generation Station. JSI will be responsible for developing, designing, building and operating the Newman Solar project. The design phase will begin in early summer of this year, shortly followed by construction and final completion of the project tentatively scheduled for the end of 2014. -

SunEdison Interconnects 16.4MW Solar Power Plant For Davis-Monathan Air Force Base
Feb. 20, 2014 - SunEdison and MIC Solar Energy Holdings, a subsidiary of Macquarie Infrastructure Company LLC, today announced the completion of a 16.4 megawatt (MW) photovoltaic (PV) solar power plant located outside Tucson, Arizona on Davis-Monthan Air Force Base (AFB). The plant is expected to reduce the Air Force's utility costs by $500,000 annually for the next 25 years. -

EDPR Starts Construction of Its First Solar PV Projects in the United States
Feb. 18, 2014 - EDP Renováveis, S.A. ("EDPR") announces the start of construction of 30MW of its first solar photovoltaic (solar PV) in the United States. The projects, acquired in 2013 by EDPR in late stage of development from Lincoln Renewable Energy, have 20-year Power Purchase Agreements ("PPA") with Southern California Edison and are expected to be installed in 2014. Located in Southern California, the projects benefit from some of the highest solar irradiance in the state and based on its prime locations, EDPR expects a load factor above 30%.
