    ABB to Help Build 50MW Solar Capacity in Jordan

    ABB has secured a contract with Martifer Solar to supply 50MW solar capacity in Jordan. The deal covers four solar plants, located near the cities of Ma'an and Mafraq. Jordan imports 96% of all its energy at an annual cost of $3.6 billion or 13.5% of the country's GDP. The Master Strategy of the Energy Sector in Jordan has set a target of 1,800MW, or 10 percent of the country's energy supply to come from renewable sources in 2020. This strategy calls for 600MW of this new capacity to be provided by solar power.

    China Sunergy Supplies 2.5MW Modules to London Southend Airport PV Project

    China Sunergy Co., Ltd. today announced that it had successfully completed a 2.5MW solar module supply agreement with Stobart Group. The modules will be used for the construction of the solar farm located at London Southend Airport owned by Stobart Group to satisfy around 20% of the airport's annual electricity requirement. The solar array consists of over 9,500 individual solar panels and occupies 3.2 hectares of unused grassland at the north of the airport site.

    Canadian Solar to Supply 60MW PV Modules for Windsor Solar Project

    Canadian Solar Inc. today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Canadian Solar Solutions Inc., has secured contracts to supply 50MW AC (60MW DC) of MaxPower CS6X solar panels and 30 medium voltage power stations for the Windsor Solar LP facility. This utility-scale solar project, developed by Samsung Renewable Energy Inc. and Connor, Clark and Lunn Infrastructure, will be built in the City of Windsor, Ontario.

    SunEdison, Inc. today announced it has signed solar power purchase agreements with 25 California elementary, middle, and high schools. SunEdison plans to install solar parking canopies at each of the campuses. By switching to solar, the schools expect to save more than $30 million on energy costs over the next 20 years.

    Hanwha Q CELLS Sells UK Solar Power Plant Portfolio of 53.3MW

    Hanwha Q CELLS GmbH today announced that it has signed and closed a share purchase agreement to sell a portfolio of three operating PV power plants in the UK. The projects were sold for a total amount of GBP 61.7 million (approximately US$90 million) plus working capital to NextEnergy Solar Fund Limited. The Portfolio is fully financed with non-recourse loans totalling GBP 45.4 million provided by Bayerische Landesbank. The financing will remain in place until 2032.
