The Japanese government has implemented a new "Renewable Energy Law," commencing in July 2012. The new regulations guarantee renewable energy producers fixed-prices for the energy they generate. This system not only provides support for PV projects in Japan, but also guarantees that the Japanese PV industry as a whole will flourish.

In the past, however, Japanese PV companies were largely focused on rooftop projects. Because of this, they lacked experience and expertise in the design, planning, construction, and maintenance of large-scale ground-mounted PV power projects.

Supported by China Powerway, Japan Powerway has already become the largest reliable contractor of PV power stations in Japan. The company has implemented projects in Fukuoka prefecture, Iwate prefecture, Yamaguchi prefecture, Niigato prefecture, Ibaraki prefecture, Hiroshima prefecture, and other locations. Powerway projects in this first phase will total 18MW, and for the whole of 2012 should reach over 100MW.
