The Heraeus Photovoltaics Global Business Unit announces the opening of their new Regional R&D centers in Mainland China and Taiwan for the development and modification of front-side and back-side metallization pastes.

"The opening of R&D facilities in Mainland China and Taiwan demonstrates our dedication to our photovoltaic customers in these geographic markets," states Andreas Liebheit, Head of Heraeus Photovoltaics Global Business Unit. "The core of our research and development is in the United States, and we have already realized the great benefits with faster innovation using this strategy. However, we have a strong market reputation for product customizations to meet a customer's specific product needs. This can be best achieved by having our resources closer to our customers' facilities. We will be able to reduce the time it takes to modify products for key customers. We will be aggressively hiring highly talented individuals in Mainland China and Taiwan to fill these newly created regional roles in our organization. Heraeus is a company with global resources, and to truly support our customers, we must also have a strong local presence in key markets to meet customer needs."

This announcement follows Heraeus' relocation of their photovoltaics business unit headquarters to Shanghai and the initiation of front-side paste production in China in 2014.
